Posted Monday, December 14, 2020 by MCVB Staff
Current COVID-19 Advisory
Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, the National Park Service has restored recreational access to Muir Woods National Monument beginning Monday, June 29, 2020.
Visitors will experience some new safety precautions:
Muir Woods Parking at 50% and Shuttle Service Suspended
To improve the visitor experience beginning on June 29, 2020, under the COVID-19 restrictions, and to enhance the protection of park resources, the National Park Service has updated its parking reservation system.
Park hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and parking reservations are still required via GoMuirWoods.com ahead of your visit.
Please ensure you have a printout or downloaded copy of your parking voucher before arriving.
Staff from Ace Parking, which manages the Muir Woods parking reservation system, will be practicing safe distancing. Please do your part to minimize close contact and conversation.
Muir Woods has an entry fee. Please buy your entry ticket online via the GoMuirWoods.com website to avoid waiting in line and to minimize the number of transactions for staff on site.
We are currently limiting our visitor capacity to keep Muir Woods a safe place for all. Face coverings are highly recommended and we are asking visitors to practice social distancing. Hand washing is available in the plaza restrooms and the giftshop restrooms.
The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy bookstore is not open at this time. Consider purchasing online at https://store.parksconservancy.org/.
The Muir Woods Trading Company is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Observe safety requirements for the gift shop and café. As per county restrictions, do not bring reusable bags. The café is open with outdoor patio seating only. Face coverings are required to enter the concessionaire facilities.
Rangers are available to answer brief orientation questions and to contact first responders in the case of emergencies.
The following services are not available at this time:
- Ranger talks & tours
- Close photos with park rangers
- Muir Woods Shuttle
The park is instituting a one-way direction of travel on some trails to minimize close contact. Signs will assist visitors with safety tips on ways to socially distance.
The Redwood Creek Trail (“main trail”) is a one-way, counter-clockwise loop from Bridge 1 to Bridge 3. A half-hour loop from Bridge 1 to Bridge 2 is also available.
The Hillside Trail is one-way from Bridge 4 to Bridge 2.
