Make Marin Your New Year Resolution

Posted in Blogging Marin on Thursday, November 2, 2023 by MCVB Staff

It is that time of year when we start thinking about our New Year's resolutions and the things we want to change or accomplish in the coming year. As 2023 draws to a close, how about starting 2024 on a high note in Marin County?

Marin County is located across from San Francisco on the sunny side of the Golden Gate Bridge. The weather is beautiful year-round and allows for outdoor activities at any time. Marin County is the perfect place to set the tone for a healthy new year. From coastal hikes and garden tours to farm-to-table culinary experiences, Marin County has something for all types of new year's resolutions.

Here are a few fantastic ways to experience your new resolutions in Marin:

VACATION IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS

If your new year’s resolution is to live a more active and healthier life, you’re in luck! Marin County is a beacon for outdoor and active tourism.  Most of the land is located inside the Golden Gate National Recreation Area or the Point Reyes National Seashore. Check out our website for the perfect time to see whales migrate or Elephant Seals resting up for their long journey ahead. Runners enjoy the challenge of the famous Dipsea Trail, and Marin is where the Mountain Bike craze began.

You could also try a Pilates class at the Mighty Pilates studios in Larkspur or get a full-body workout at SoulCycle's full-body workout. You can unwind at Evo Spa or Skin Spirit in Mill Valley. For Yoga enthusiasts, Uli K Hike and Yoga offers curated hikes with or without yoga at various degrees of difficulty.

TREAT YOUR TASTEBUDS

A tasty start to healthy eating awaits you every Thursday and Sunday at the famous Marin farmer’s market rolled out by the Agricultural Institute of Marin. This is California's second-largest farmer’s market, with actual farm staff at each booth.

Marin offers farm tours, cheese and wine tastings, and a mead-tasting experience. Marin is also famous for fresh oysters. Wouldn’t it be fun to learn about a few ethnic recipes using local ingredients and then enjoy a meal after? Most hotels offer outdoor grills so that you can put your culinary skills to the test with your fresh bounty.

EXPLORE NEW ART AND CULTURE

Year-round there are cultural activities to see in Marin. The Marin Symphony, started by a group of professional and amateur musicians in a quest to bring back classical music's charm, has been performing since 1954. If classical music is not your thing, reserve your tickets for the spectacular outdoor theater performance by The Mountain Play Association, or check out the stars at the Mill Valley Film Festival each fall. You never know what famous performer or actor might just drop by.

NEARBY BUT A WORLD AWAY

Whether you are coming from near or far, Marin is easily accessible.  Fly into Charles Schulz Airport in Santa Rosa or regional airports in San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento. It is also a short drive from anywhere in Northern California.
