Above 5th Rooftop Bar and Restaurant at AC Hotel San Rafael is Now Open

Above Fifth at AC San Rafael hotel has officially reopened on the hotel’s rooftop for the season. Featuring views of Mt. Tam and the surrounding Marin County, Above Fifth made its debut last summer, bringing the first rooftop bar destination to downtown San Rafael. Above Fifth, which continued to operate on the hotel’s first floor for winter, will also debut new, seasonal food and drink menus and launch weekend brunch on Mother’s Day - Sunday, May 12.
Details: The food and beverage team including Head Chef Francisco Carrera and Lead Mixologist Max Shepard will showcase a refreshed menu of small plates featuring seasonal and local ingredients alongside curated cocktails, local beer and wine. Menu highlights include:
- White Sablefish Crudo with shallots, capers, citrus, radishes, flake salt, Napa Valley X.V. olive oil ($18)
- Point Reyes Toma Grilled Cheese with Bordenave’s sourdough, house made strawberry and black pepper preserve ($16)
- Chilled Oysters served with lemon and Champagne mignonette (6 each $24)
- Ahi Tuna Sarro tartare with avocado mousse, shallots, chives, sriracha, yuzu, Kewpie, wontons ($25)
- Petaluma Chicken Souvlaki with feta, preserved lemon vinaigrette, fin herbs ($18)
- Mount Tam Pizzetta with house made pomodoro, Point Reyes Toma, Italian sausage, chorizo, shitake, red onion and Castelvetrano olives
Signature cocktails ($16) include:
- White Linen with Fid Street Hawaiian Gin, St. Germain Elderflower, lemon, simple syrup
- Hiking Buddy with Ron del Barrilito Dark Rum, Rouge Vermouth, Aztec Chocolate Bitters, orange bitters and black cherry
- Love at First Sight with Gray Whale Gin, Bianco Vermouth, grenadine, lemon
- Mount Diablo with Hornitos, Reposado, Creme de cassis, lime, ginger beer and tajin
- Celebrity Strip with Sombra Mezcal, jalapeno, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, lime
The lounge atmosphere and casual vibe coupled with its stunning natural backdrop has made Above Fifth a popular destination to meet friends for tapas style shared plates and a drink or a nightcap after dinner. The space features bar seating where guests can catch all of the action from the mixology team, high top seating with unobstructed views, and a number of lounge areas complete with umbrellas and fire pits to take guests from the warm afternoons to the cooler nights of Marin.
