Marin's Ultimate Valentine's Day

Love is in the air this month, which means you need to start planning your Valentine’s Day early! Maybe you’ve decided that this is the perfect time to get down on one knee, or it could be that this is your first Valentine’s Day together, so you want to make sure it’s memorable. Whatever the case may be, you can be sure that the Marin Convention & Visitors Bureau has everything you could ever need for the perfect Valentine’s Day!

Book the Perfect Hotel

At the Mountain Home Inn, a Deluxe Romance Package is waiting for you and your sweetheart. Look no further than an inn perched atop Marin's Mt. Tamalpais for a romantic getaway. Make just one call, and everything will be set up for a romantic, peaceful, and unforgettable evening. A dozen roses, a card, and other delightful surprises are waiting for your sweetheart when you spend any night at the inn.

You can only find this kind of private bed-and-breakfast experience in Marin County, so book the lone AppleGarden Cottage, which is situated on a farm and cidery renowned for making some of Marin's best hard ciders. The farm's modern furnishings, which include a private kitchen, are the ideal extras to enjoy while being surrounded by the rural countryside. Visit the cidery for a tour to discover more about the organic food systems that make Marin County a pioneer in sustainable agriculture.

Start the romancing off right with The Lodge at Tiburon’s Bed and Breakfast Package for two. Most rooms come with private balconies or patios, as well as courtyard or mountain views. Open the shuttered balcony doors and feel the cool bay breeze while you soak in the sights and sounds of the San Francisco Bay. Get back to nature with all the comforts of a mountain lodge retreat. Pets are welcome too!

Be sure to check back for additional hotel packages for special occasions. We update frequently!

Food to Set the Mood

Being one of the most romantic nations in the world, spending Valentine's Day dining at a romantic Italian restaurant makes perfect sense. One of Marin's top Italian eateries, Il Davide, is run by David Haydon and serves traditional Tuscan cuisine. The San Rafael restaurant serves dinner starting at 4 p.m. and continues until 10 p.m. Spoiler alert: be sure to take a peek at the dessert menu!

If Italian wine doesn't excite you, other native varieties at Trek Winery in the heart of Novato will. As you sip award-winning wines like the 2010 Dry Creek Valley Syrah, take in the relaxed atmosphere of the tasting room. A great place to warm up, this family-run winery offers regional wines and live performances almost every night of the week. Details about live comedy and music performances can be found on the schedule.

Activities for Love Birds

An evening cruise on San Francisco Bay is the epitome of romance. During the yearly Valentine's Day Sail on the Bay on Wednesday, February 14th, from 4:45 p.m. to 7 p.m.,  passengers on the Schooner Freda B will take in the sights, including the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and the glittering San Francisco skyline. The $99 per person excursion departs from the boat's slip at the Sausalito Yacht Harbor in Marin County.

Enjoy a night of gallery hopping at San Rafael's Art Works Downtown. On Tuesdays through Saturdays, the galleries are open from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., but on every second Friday of the month (5 p.m. to 8 p.m.), the galleries stay open until 8 p.m. for an evening of art appreciation, wine, and live music. Get to know fellow art enthusiasts and maybe even meet one of the featured artists! Explore the many restaurants in the area afterward.

On February 14th, if you are a lover of water, book a sunset ferry cruise with appetizers and cocktails on the Angel Island Tiburon Ferry. Boats depart from downtown Tiburon's Main Street. Or schedule a romantic Valentine’s Day Bay Lights Cruise on the luxury vessel Tamalpais for a two-hour cruise and be prepared to be pampered. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the waterfront with your loved one by your side while enjoying complimentary light appetizers and sipping sparkling wine.
