Tomales Bay, on the coast of Northern California, is our home where we grow, harvest, shuck and share great oysters. We began oyster farming in 1983 with the goal of raising the best quality, sustainable shellfish in a beautiful location.
We started our farm with a five-acre shellfish lease in Tomales Bay, CA raising the Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas), which we call our Hog Island® Sweetwater. Today, we farm on 160 acres of intertidal lands in Tomales Bay where we raise four of the five edible oyster varieties found in the Northern Hemisphere, plus Manila clams.
Delve a little deeper with a tour and taste experience. Learn all about oysters, the marine environment, and how we use sustainable aquaculture techniques to raise our shellfish. Our tours are approximately one-hour walking tours of Hog Island Oyster Co.’s land-based operations and cost $25 per person. Sorry, boat tours are not available. Please book and confirm your tour at least one week in advance. All farm tour inquiries can be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tours Available by Reservation Only 10:00am and 1:00pm, Monday - Friday
