Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit environmental conservation and education organization founded in 1962 to safeguard Bolinas Lagoon from irresponsible development, leading the way for the protection of Tomales Bay.  Today, ACR acts as guardian of 5,000 acres over four main nature preserves in Marin, Sonoma and Lake counties.

About ACR’s Martin Griffin Preserve, Stinson Beach

ACR’s Martin Griffin Preserve encompasses 1,000 acres in West Marin. Mixed evergreen forests blanket slopes overlooking the Bolinas Lagoon. Open hillsides support grasslands and coastal scrub, while freshwater habitats nestle in canyon floors. The preserve is home to more than twentyfive species of mammals, over ninety species of landbirds, thirteen species of reptile, and eight species of amphibian.

The preserve’s frontage along Bolinas Lagoon brings more than 60 species of waterbirds and shorebirds into view—from sandpipers to Osprey to pelicans—as well as some of the resident harbor seals.

ACR’s award winning daylong and overnight school programs at the Martin Griffin Preserve provide students from around the Bay Area with an education-based, nature experience guided by trained docents.

The Martin Griffin Preserve is open to the public during the week by appointment as well as on weekends and holidays from May- July, and offers picnic areas, more than 8-miles of hiking trails, and kid-friendly exploration zones, along with trained naturalists available to answer questions.

Throughout the Public Season, special events are offered at the Preserve including Conservation Talks, Nature Connection Events, and Family Programs. Suggested donation $15-25/person. Contributions support the preservation, education and conservation science programs of Audubon Canyon Ranch.
