Things To Do

FIFA 2026

Stay in Marin County for the 2026 FIFA™ World Cup

Trade the chaos for coastal calm. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Marin County is your sweet spot close to the action at Levi’s Stadium and San Francisco, but grounded in redwoods, shoreline, and local character.

Why Marin is the perfect World Cup home base

Close to the matches:

You’re within easy reach of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara and San Francisco’s FIFA Fan Festival™ without having to stay in the middle of the crowds and highest prices.

Relax between match days:

Swap concrete for coastline: hike Mount Tam, stroll Stinson Beach, or watch the sunset over the Marin Headlands after a high‑energy match.

Laid‑back, safe, and scenic:

Boutique towns like Corte Madera, Mill Valley, Larkspur, and Pt Reyes Station offer walkable streets, dining, and a slower pace that’s ideal for families, couples, and friend groups.

Iconic Bay Area views, without the gridlock:

Wake up to Golden Gate Bridge views, not just photos of it. Marin sits just across the bridge from San Francisco, making it easy to dip into the city and then retreat to nature.

Match Dates

Book your stay in Marin, grab your tickets, and prepare for five must‑watch group‑stage clashes that will decide who advances to the Round of 16.

JUNE 13 Qatar vs. Switzerland
JUNE 16 Austria vs. Jordan
JUNE 19 Playoff winner of (Turkey, Romania, Slovakia or Kosovo) vs. Paraguay - Group D
JUNE 22 Jordan vs. Algeria
JUNE 25 Paraguay vs. Australia

Getting to the World Cup action from Marin

To Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara

By car or rideshare:
Head south via US‑101 or I‑280. Many visitors will choose to drive or rideshare on match days, plan extra time and consider carpooling.

By transit (multi-leg):
Combine ferry, regional rail, and local transit: for example, ferry or bus into San Francisco, then Caltrain toward the South Bay, plus local connections to the stadium. It’s a great option if you’d rather skip stadium parking.

Tip: Build in time for lunch or early dinner in Marin before you go, traffic will feel a lot better after oysters in Larkspur or pizza in Mill Valley.

To San Francisco Attractions

Golden Gate Bridge gateway:
From southern Marin (Sausalito, Mill Valley, Corte Madera), you’re just a short drive or bus ride across the bridge into San Francisco.

Ferries with a view:
Ferries from Sausalito, Tiburon, and Larkspur take you directly into the city, an unforgettable way to arrive on match days, with skyline and bridge views built in.

To San Francisco’s FIFA Fan Festival™

From southern Marin, you’re just a short drive or bus ride across the bridge, or a scenic ferry ride from Sausalito, Tiburon, or Larkspur directly into the city Fan Festival action.

Where to stay in Marin during the World Cup

For fans who want waterfront vibes:

Marin Country Mart at Larkspur Landing brings that easy‑breezy bayside feel, with wide‑open views, ferries drifting by, and a salty‑sweet breeze that makes a simple coffee or glass of wine feel memorable.

For fans who love redwoods and cozy nights:

Mill Valley:
Nestled under Mount Tamalpais and near Muir Woods, Mill Valley is perfect if you want to pair match days with hikes, trail runs, and intimate restaurants.

Corte Madera, Larkspur, San Rafael, Novato:
Convenient freeway access, shopping, and a range of hotels and inns. These are excellent bases if you’re planning multiple stadium trips and day trips around the Bay Area.
