Everyone knows that a great food-and-wine pairing pleases the palate. But have you ever pondered a dinner-and-music pairing too?

Renowned for both its rich tradition in music and world-class food scene, Marin County is the perfect destination for foodies who also crave a little entertainment. Just for you, we’ve assembled five of the best options for dinner and live music on “the sunny side of the Golden Gate Bridge.” Bon appétit and bonne musique!

Chilling Out With Friends
HopMonk Tavern Novato offers a potent combo of beers and bands. The tavern serves nearly 20 types of beer on tap, and even more bottled beers, as well as wine, cocktails and spirits. You can couple your favorite adult beverage with a variety of victuals, including pickle fries, pork sliders, grilled artichoke, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, entrees and desserts (try the Oreo sandwich). Combine all of that with an array of live music acts, and you’ve got a fantastic night out with friends.

Farm-to-Table Feasts
If you’re hunting for a farm-to-table experience and live music, then Station House Cafe in Point Reyes Station is playing your tune.

Seafood is among the staples at Station House Cafe. On the dinner menu, you’ll find oysters on the half shell, cove mussels, calamari, clam chowder, shrimp fettuccine, and linguine with clams. If seafood isn’t your thing, plenty of other choices are available.

On the music menu are jazz, bluegrass and R&B acts from throughout the Bay Area. Check out live jazz on the first Friday of each month, along with live music every Sunday night.

Romantic Evenings
The Panama Hotel Restaurant in San Rafael provides an intimate setting to enjoy a sumptuous meal and take in live music.

The restaurant cooks up Latin American-, Mediterranean- and California-influenced fare prepared with seasonal organic products. On a given night, you can pick from delectable dishes such as a New York steak, a Cubano pork chop, oven-roasted chicken breast, mushroom ravioli and Dungeness crab. And for those with a sweet tooth, be sure to dig into the brownie tower.

Just as delicious as the food are the musical selections on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The range of musical stylings includes blues, jazz, soul, R&B, Motown and Americana.

A Taste of Europe
L’Appart Resto in San Anselmo delivers French-inspired cuisine at its finest. The mouthwatering menu features delicious dinner items such as pan-seared halibut, grilled Duroc pork chop, handmade garlic and parsley tagliatelle with braised rabbit, and wine-marinated mussels. You can top off your meal with desserts like vanilla crème brûlée or warm molten chocolate cake stuffed with raspberry ganache.

Every Thursday night, your L’Appart Resto dinner is accompanied by music. Performers play a veritable chorus of tunes from genres such as blues, jazz, rock ’n’ roll, pop, Latin and Brazilian.

Diehard Music Fans
As the venue’s name suggests, the main course at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael is music. And if you’re hungry for food, Terrapin has you covered there too. Terrapin was built on a foundation of music. It is ingrained in everything they do. The venue offers live music every day of the week, some days as many as three different musical experiences in three different areas of the establishment. You never know what you will hear, see, or do at Terrapin!

The entire area around Terrapin Crossroads is full of Dead history, but it is here that you can enjoy the hospitality and comradery of those that love music and good food. The gorgeous weather and waterside location make it an excellent place to relax while dining with friends. The main dining headline is that they are committed to serving local and organic products when possible, and in supporting local farms.
