Hike Hicks Mountain Belvedere Ranch with MALT

Be among the first to hike Hicks Mountain Belvedere Ranch, a newly opened-to-the-public MALT-protected ranch in Hicks Valley. Protected by MALT in 2024, the ranch is home to one of Marin County's highest peaks and features native plants, redwood groves, dense chaparral, and remarkable biodiversity.
The Dellinger family raises beef cattle, brush-grazing goats, and pasture-raised hens on the property and produces local honey. During the visit, participants will have the opportunity to feed the Hicks Mountain Hens and learn more about this working agricultural landscape. The ranch is also part of a 14,226-acre contiguous block of MALT-protected land, creating one of the largest conservation areas in the Bay Area.
Hicks Mountain Loop (Very Challenging)
4.5 miles | 1,000 ft elevation gain
Follow a combination of trails and ranch roads to the top for incredible views. Hiking poles and trail-ready shoes with good grip are strongly recommended.
Picnic Area Route (Easy)
⅔ mile out and back
Follow a ranch road from the farm stand to a shaded picnic area with tables, offering an easy option and a great spot to stop for lunch.
Space is limited and advance registration is recommended. Parking at the ranch is very limited, so carpooling is strongly encouraged.
A suggested donation of $30 helps support future MALT hikes and experiences. Participants should review MALT's event policies and complete a liability waiver before arriving at the ranch.
