Marin's Iconic Dipsea Race, And Its Pioneering Women

Join renowned Dipsea historian Barry Spitz for an engaging journey through the history of the legendary Dipsea Race. This special presentation explores the origins and evolution of the iconic race, from its early days on Marin’s rugged trails to the traditions that continue to define it today.
A key focus of the talk highlights the pioneering women whose participation helped shape and transform the Dipsea Race, along with the colorful characters and enduring spirit that make it one of California’s most unique athletic traditions.
The event will take place on Wednesday, May 27th at the College of Marin in the new Center for Student Success, Room 200 (across from Pink Owl Coffee). The evening begins with a reception from 6:30pm–7:00pm, followed by a welcome from COM President Jonathan Eldridge and a presentation by historian Barry Spitz from 7:00pm–8:00pm.
This event is presented by the Marin History Museum and College of Marin. Space is limited, and advance RSVP is strongly recommended to ensure attendance at this highly anticipated program.
