MALT Hike at Corda Family Ranch

Be among the first to hike a newly opened to the public MALT-protected Ranch! Come and hike Corda Family Ranch on Friday, May 16th. Corda Family Ranch, Measure A funded and MALT-protected since 2024, is an iconic West Marin ranch along Novato Boulevard.
For more than a century, the Corda family has stewarded this land. The agricultural conservation easement is the latest chapter in this ongoing story, adding 903 acres to an existing 14,383-acre contiguous block of MALT agricultural conservation easements and 3.85 miles of critically important creekside habitat for many threatened and endangered species.
Choose from two scenic hike options at Corda Family Ranch:
1.5 mile self-guided out-and-back hike to a beautiful oak tree with a moderate climb and 365 feet total elevation gain
5.25 mile guided loop hike considered challenging, with 1,400+ feet total elevation gain, departing promptly at 10:30 am. Hiking poles, water, long pants, and hiking experience strongly recommended. NOTE: 900+ feet of elevation gain in a segment that is just under a mile in length – not for the faint of heart
Along the hikes you will experience beautiful rolling hills, oak woodlands, creekside habitats, and historic dairy barns that tell the story of this ranch’s agricultural legacy. The ranch’s expansive pastures act as natural filters, purifying rainwater as it percolates through the soil, ultimately replenishing groundwater sources and feeding the headwaters of Novato Creek. Feel free to picnic under the oak tree!
Check-in begins at 10:00 am, followed by a short welcome and remarks at 10:15 am. Hikers doing the 5.25 challenging guided loop must be with MALT staff at all times and must complete the hike within 2.5 hours. All hikers must be off property by 1:00 pm.
