Transcendence Theatre Company Presents Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations

Experience the electrifying musical *Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations* from June 12–28, 2026 at Field of Dreams in Sonoma. This Tony Award-winning production tells the extraordinary story of The Temptations, from their beginnings on the streets of Detroit to their rise to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Featuring the group’s signature harmonies and iconic dance moves, the show takes audiences behind the music to explore their journey, including 42 Top Ten hits and 14 number-one singles. Set against a backdrop of personal and political challenges, the story highlights themes of brotherhood, loyalty, and resilience during a transformative time in American history.
The production is set to a soundtrack of beloved hits such as “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” with a book by award-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau based on Otis Williams’s memoir. Praised by The New York Times as “pretty close to perfect” and described as “dazzling and electrifying” by The Washington Post, this is a must-see theatrical experience.
Performances take place June 12–14, 18–21, and 25–28 at 7:00pm. A special Juneteenth celebration and ASL-interpreted performance will be held on Friday, June 19.
This production is rated PG-13 and offers a gritty, authentic portrayal of the group’s history. Parental discretion is advised.
