Learn the Art of Summer Jam Making at the Marin Art and Garden Center

Date: Sunday, June 7, 2026
Time: 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Want to savor the fruits of summer all year long? Join Marinda Freeman for a hands-on canning class and learn how easy and rewarding homemade preserves can be.
In this relaxed and interactive workshop, you’ll learn the basics of jam making and safe canning techniques while working with fresh, seasonal fruit at its peak. Participants will be guided through the full process—from preparing the fruit to cooking, stirring, and filling jars.
Depending on what’s in season, the class may include making apricot jam, strawberry lemon jam, or peach jam. Each session is designed to be hands-on, so everyone has a chance to actively participate and take part in creating their own preserves.
Marinda Freeman has been canning fruits and vegetables for over 50 years, preserving the best of each season in jars of homemade goodness. Every summer she fills her pantry with jams, chutneys, and preserves, turning them into heartfelt gifts to share throughout the year.
If you can’t make this date, a second class is available on June 28. For more information, please visit the website linked above.
