Learn the Art of Summer Jam Making at the Marin Art and Garden Center

Date: Sunday, June 28, 2026
Time: 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Want to savor the fruits of summer all year long? Join Marinda Freeman for a hands-on canning class and learn how easy and rewarding homemade preserves can be. In this relaxed and fun workshop, you’ll learn the basics of jam making and safe canning techniques while working together with fresh, seasonal fruit at its peak.
Marinda Freeman has been canning fruits and vegetables for over 50 years, turning the best of each season into jars of goodness. Every summer she fills her pantry with jams, chutneys, and preserves—so when the holidays arrive, she has beautiful homemade gifts ready to share. Truly, there’s love in every jar. Depending on what’s in season, the class may include making apricot jam, strawberry lemon jam, or peach jam.
This is a hands-on class, and each participant will take part in the full process—from preparing the fruit to stirring the pots and filling the jars. Come experience the simple pleasure of turning fresh fruit into something you can enjoy long after summer has passed.
Tickets are $140.56. For more information, please visit the website linked above.
