Shorebird Migration Birding Walk at China Camp

Date: Saturday, July 18, 2026
Time: 8:00am - 10:00am
Join Friends of China Camp for a guided Shorebird Migration Birding Walk along the scenic shores of China Camp State Park.
July is one of the most exciting times of year for birdwatching as migrating shorebirds begin returning to the Bay. Participants will search for species such as marbled godwits, western and least sandpipers, belted kingfishers, ducks, and a variety of gulls while learning about identification techniques and migration patterns. If time permits, the walk will continue into the hills above China Camp Village, where smaller birds such as dark-eyed juncos, California towhees, Bewick's wrens, and Anna's hummingbirds may be spotted.
The walk covers up to two miles and includes some moderate uphill walking. Participants must be at least 10 years old, and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission is free for Friends of China Camp members. A $5 donation is appreciated for non-members.
