KC Turner Presents Robbie Fulks at HopMonk Tavern

Singer-songwriter **Robbie Fulks** was born in York, Pennsylvania, and raised across the Southeast. A multi-instrumentalist rooted in bluegrass and country, he studied in New York before immersing himself in Chicago’s music scene, joining Special Consensus and later teaching at Old Town School of Folk Music. He also worked as a staff songwriter in Nashville.
His acclaimed early albums, *Country Love Songs* (1996) and *South Mouth* (1997), helped shape the 1990s alternative country movement. In recent years, his work has returned to acoustic instrumentation, blending bluegrass traditions with thoughtful, modern songwriting.
Fulks has appeared on programs including Austin City Limits and NPR’s *Fresh Air*, and has hosted his own satellite radio show. His songs have been recorded by artists such as Sam Bush and Andrew Bird. In addition to performing year-round, he is an accomplished writer, producer, and collaborator across genres.
