Weekends on Grant & Downtown Novato
Date: Friday, April 2, 2021
Time: 4:00pm Friday - 7:00am Monday
The City of Novato, in partnership with the Downtown Novato Business Association (DNBA), is pleased to announce the return of the Weekends on Grant temporary street closure program. Beginning March 5, Grant Avenue will be closed between Reichert and Machin Avenues to create pedestrian-only access each weekend from 4pm on Fridays to 7am on Mondays (weather permitting).
“Our small businesses continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Community & Economic Development Director Vicki Parker. “After a successful run last year, we’re pleased to be able to resume this temporary street closure to help our businesses and allow our community to enjoy what our Downtown has to offer.”
Grant Avenue’s pedestrian-friendly streetscape allows for improved social distancing and a safer, easier outdoor dining and shopping experience.
“This program will create an environment for families to get out and enjoy our beautiful weather while dining and shopping,” said DNBA Executive Director Stephanie Koehler. “We look forward to seeing our Downtown thrive again.”
The DNBA’s Facebook page will be updated each Friday at noon with street closure details and potential cancellations due to weather. A friendly reminder that all visitors and businesses must continue to follow County guidelines regarding face coverings, social distancing, and good hygiene practices to help create a space where our community feels comfortable while visiting Downtown.
