Date: Thursday, June 25, 2020
Time: Every Thursday 5:00pm - 9:00pm
Begins on June 25th with Inaugural Street Lighting
San Rafael’s Fourth Street restaurants, from Lincoln Ave. to the West End Village, are taking to the (closed to traffic) street for outdoor dining every Thursday night this summer, beginning on June 25th.
Making the best of social distancing, restauranteurs will arrange tables on the street for a romantic European feel under the glimmering new overhead Tivoli lights.
Plan to come dine alfresco for the kickoff evening from 5 – 9 pm on Thursday, June 25, and witness the initial illumination of the lights. San Rafael Mayor Gary Phillips will “flip the switch” to give our local community the first look at this bright new permanent light installation.
The twinkle lights on the trees served us well for many years, and now this modern upgrade will make Downtown sparkle again. The overhead light strands create a cohesive connection to the existing Tivoli lights which the City added to the West End strip last year.
Several restaurants and bars will also be serving daily physically and socially distant meals outside on their sunny sidewalks or patios during their usual business hours and many are still offering take out and delivery. Please check with your favorite restaurant and retailer for hours and reservation requirements. “Know before you go!”
Marin residents are encouraged to enjoy our amazing and resilient restaurants often, but especially on Thursday nights. With the Farmers’ Market on hiatus this Summer, Thursday evenings Downtown will be devoted to festive alfresco “Dining Under the Lights”.
