You're invited to Marin Center's Exhibit Dia de Los Muertos: Transformations through Life and Death on display in the Bartolini Gallery October 15-November 20! Originating wih the Aztecs, the Day of the Dead is a unique blend of indigenous Mesoamerican and Catholic practices and rituals. It is believed by families across Mexico and beyond that every year on November 1 and 2, spirits of their passed loved ones visit us here in this realm on Earth. During these days, there is tribute to life and tribute to death-not one without the other, similarily with our everyday lives. With the ebb and flow of existence, whether that be of existence with relationships, of capabilities, of culture-we celebrate, we resist, we mourn, we transform. With the use of printmaking, paints, sculpture and beyond, this Day of the Dead exhibit will largely carry the essence of transformation through life and death in ways that honor and celebrate our existence, our subconscious ancestoral wisdom, and our spirits.
The exhibit includes more than 60 works by artists including Isidoro Angeles, Daniel Camacho, Sandy Coronado, Carlos Herrera, Raul Del Rio, Oscar Morales, Eustoria Navarrete, Ernesto Olmos, Ernesto Sanchez, and Alya Toquinto.
