Bolinas Museum invites you to Astronomy Night on Mount Tam: Gravitational Waves + the Glow of Cosmic Gold! Tonight's topic includes a presentation by Daniel Kasen, Research Associate Professor, UC Berkeley. In October 2017, Earthlings detected gravitational waves--ripples in the fabric of space--from the violent merger of two untra-dense neron stars. The signals showed that collision debris self-assembled into heavy elements, such as gold and platinum, providing an explanation for the cosmis origin of these special materials.
