Learn about sea level rise while shopping for locally, sustainably grown produce at Marin Country Mart Farmers’ Market. Marin County and City of Larkspur staff will be at the Marin Country Mart Farmer’s Market and Larkspur Ferry Terminal for an informational event about sea-level rise.
The event is part of a larger campaign called Shrinking Shores where local governments provide a physical demonstration that illustrates the dramatic impacts of rising sea level through the end of the century. That day, temporary sign posts will be posted near the Ferry Terminal showing the projected heights of sea level in 2030, 2050, and 2100. Shrinking Shores organizers will staff a booth across the pedestrian bridge at the Farmer’s Market where experts will be available to discuss the science behind the predicted rise. Visitors will get a chance to participate in the Game of Floods, learn about how we can adapt to climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and find out how to get involved in the process of planning for a coordinated response to sea level rise.
