Holiday 2020: Dine and Shop

Posted in Blogging Marin on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 by MCVB Staff

We all need something to look forward to, especially with the holidays approaching. Given the multi-layered positive impact that restaurants have on all types of nearby businesses, Marin County is creating ways to keep its communities viable and healthy. "The ultimate goal is to push much-needed business into local restaurants, whether it is for take-out or outdoor dining if available,” said Gina Marr-Hiemstra, vice president, Marin Convention & Visitors Bureau. “There is concern that many of the restaurants we love will not be here in the long term, depending how long this pandemic lasts and how long the restaurants can hold on.”

“Marin County Cares ~ Restaurant Appreciation” is a two month-long Restaurant Week-style promotion. Each participating restaurant is either showcasing a special offer or an existing menu feature to welcome guests back to their establishments. There are no tickets or passes required and although most restaurants are open on a first come, first serve basis, many do appreciate a reservation for outdoor dining, and indoor dining if available. Customers must also mention “Marin County Cares” to their server to receive any special offer. This promotion expires February 28, 2021, so the best way to visit in the future is to go to Experience Marin Safely which lives on the Visit Marin website.

“Marin County Cares ~ Restaurant Appreciation” is open now through December 31, 2020 to each participating community and featured restaurant. Participating chambers in the campaign also include Fairfax, Larkspur, Mill Valley, Novato, San Anselmo, Sausalito, Tiburon, West Marin and the Hispanic Chamber.

What's Open in Marin is a webpage which features all our restaurant partners who are currently offering Take-out services and Outdoor Dining, shopping options, parks and beach listings  so visitors will be in the know as to where to dine and what activities are available. Whether it’s ordering take-out, having a date night with your honey, or celebrating a special holiday occasion locally, you will be supporting and encouraging your community to remain sustainable.
