Main Symphony continues its memorable 64th season at Marin Center with Masterworks 2: Midori Comes To Marin on Friday, January 27, and Saturday, January 28, at 8:00pm. The Marin Symphony and its Youth Orchestra have been selected as this season's sole recipient of her Prestigious Orchestra Residency Program Award. In addition to working with the youth programs and providing outreach to Marin schools, Midori will be the featured guest artist for the Orchestra's Masterworks 2 Program.
Masterworks 2: Midori Comes to Marin features Mason Bates' Devils Radio with equal parts darkness and groove. Midori will then perform Britten's Violin Concerto, a demanding work which features both technically brilliant and elegantly lyrical elements. Finally, Bella Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra, one of his most poular works, will delve into the tradition of Eastern European folk music.
